What is Poetic Language? How is it different from poetry?

To me poetic language is a type of language that can be use to describe certain elements such as feelings and emotions. I think that poetic language is used in books and novels because the language in novels is descriptive and allows the reader to connect with the emotions and feelings of the characters. Poetic language is descriptive and gives sensory details in a novel. the way I think poetic language is different from poetry is that in poetic language you do not have to follow a certain rythm nor rhyme with the word choice. poetry also allows you to express your emmotions and feelings, however it includes you keeping a beat with your word choice.
